On July 17, 1873 a group of fourteen women formed a Sewing Society for the purpose of gathering funds to pay off church debt, Sewing Society No. 2, formed in 1894, and the Willing Workers Society, formed in 1908 continued this proud tradition of women's service. The modern-day Sewing Society No. 3 focuses on service through craft.
