Musical Notes ♫♬ (Archive)

While each piece may be different in style they each have a beautiful melody and moving poetry that reminds us how wonderful the love of God is, how it changes our lives and how because of this we are called to 'love one another and I have loved you'.  Diverse music for a diverse world with a simple message.  For years people have asked the question whether or not a service should be traditional or contemporary.  In some of my research I found the following four recommendations on the on the ELCA website:

Whatever music is used in worship among

Lutherans, it must

· honestly and boldly proclaim God’s Word,

· be integral to the liturgy,

· reflect the diversity of the church, and

· have primary expression in the voice of the congregation.

There is an incredible amount of honest and bold music in the world and we have a very talented and diverse congregation.  The possibilities of raising a joyful noise unto the Lord are endless!

The Worship and Music Committee has sent out a survey asking for your input regarding the music here at G.A.  Please prayerfully consider how music affects your worship experience and how we can best proclaim God's Word through song.  What is meaningful to YOU?

As a special treat Sunday, Lisa Daehlin, soprano, will be sharing her musical gifts with us.  Lisa is a multi-talented artist and a joy of a person to know.  Please join me in welcoming her today.

  • Malachi 4:1-6

5Lo, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. 6He will turn the hearts of parents to their children and the hearts of children to their parents, so that I will not come and strike the land with a curse.
