San Damiano Crucifix 300x405

2-PART ADULT ED. SERIES:

  • Part two: The Crucifixion in icons and artwork: Artists often illuminate and enrich our faith and understanding. Although influenced by tradition and cultural style, the artist can bring a personal interpretation to biblical and religious themes that provides insights for our minds and hearts. By studying the iconography of the Crucifixion in paintings and sculpture, and exploring the details, scenes, figures and depictions of Christ on the Cross, we seek to find a deeper personal involvement with Christ's passion and it's meaning. Led by GA member (and art teacher) Marty Merchant, we’ll meet Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM on Mar. 8, 15, 22.

Daily Bible Verse

  • 1 Samuel 5:1-12

The inhabitants of Gath replied, "Let the ark of God be moved on to us." So they moved the ark of the God of Israel to Gath. 9But after they had brought it to Gath, the hand of the LORD was against the city, causing a very great panic; he struck the inhabitants of the city, both young and old, so that tumors broke out on them.
