Praying on Ash Wednesday at 18th and Park Ave South

On Ash Wenesday, we will venture out to the streets (Union Square and Madison Square Park) to offer ashes and prayer on Ash Wednesday.  This will be our third year and it is a remarkable experience. In years past, by the end of the day, we had anointed and prayed with 900+ people.  This year, we will have an even greater presence!

ELCA Anti-Racism Pledge

As church we are called to confess the sin of racism, condemn the ideology of white supremacy and strive for racial justice and peace. Beyond statements and prayers, we are also called to act and respond to injustices. We invite you to commit to anti-racist actions at ELCA.org/RacialJusticePledge.

Daily Bible Verse

  • 1 Samuel 5:1-12

The inhabitants of Gath replied, "Let the ark of God be moved on to us." So they moved the ark of the God of Israel to Gath. 9But after they had brought it to Gath, the hand of the LORD was against the city, causing a very great panic; he struck the inhabitants of the city, both young and old, so that tumors broke out on them.
