Pierce Turner

Tony Clayton Lea of The Irish Times says of Pierce Turner that he was “Easily one of the most important Irish rock artists of the last twenty years.”

He was on the cover of New York Magazine hailed as “New York’s undiscovered gem.”

Pierce has a track in the acclaimed HBO Show “ The Wire” and the Academy award winning Director Jim Sheridan said that a Turner performance in New York inspired him to make his classic “My Left Foot.” Sheridan said “Of all the great artistic and tough Norman stock coming out of Ireland’s South East, Pierce Turner is probably the finest.”

The list of positive reviews go on, but all that is important really is to know that this is a great performer with such great songs that Liam Fay with the Sunday Times, said “He has created what I confidently believe to be the finest body of work in contemporary Irish music, bar none.”

Rolling Stone review of Tibet house benefit 2010 at Carnegie Hall "Early in the night, composer Phillip Glass introduced Irish singer Pierce Turner, who sat at the grand piano and performed the soaring, Bowie-reminiscent “Yogi with a Broken Heart.”

NY Times review of the same event: "A piano playing Irish songwriter with tinges of opera and Joni Mitchell sang his “Yogi with a Broken Heart” joined by Mr. Philip Glass on keyboard."

Collecting Food for the Hungry and Homeless

As the weather begins to change, life for those who are hungry and homeless becomes even more difficult. Please bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the sanctuary entrance. The food we collect will be taken to the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lower Eastside.

Healing Services

We offer brief healing services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. These are powerful times of anointing and prayer. They are held in the sanctuary after the 11 AM service.
