A time of celebration and appreciation!

We joyfully request your presence!!

Please join the faith community at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church on December 11 at 11AM.  We want to offer our thanks to everyone who helped launch Open Arms Preschool. There will be a time of recognition during the service with a fun reception to follow.

It has taken 7 years of congregational conversations, visioning, prayerful planning… most intensely over the past 3 years… through major renovations, significant challenges, mountains of paperwork, substantial financial investment, and multiple on-site inspections by Dept. of Health, Dept. of Buildings, and FDNY… but we made it!

With the growing number of young families living in this community, we held on to the conviction that our neighbors need high-quality care for their young children. Now the joyful sounds of children playing, exploring and learning fill the beautiful, brand new classrooms and large play area, led by a talented and attentive staff of teachers.

So please come and let us offer our thanks to you in person:

  • Open Arms students and their families
  • The Preschool staff
  • David Hu Architect and his staff
  • Fong Construction and their crew and tradesmen
  • Langton Creative Group - logo designer
  • Classic Systems - fire alarm company
  • Lt. George Guinan – FDNY
  • Lane's Floor Coverings & Interiors, Inc. - flooring company
  • KM Associates of NY - expediter
  • GA staff
  • Open Arms Preschool Advisory Board
  • GA Church Council

Collecting Food for the Hungry and Homeless

As the weather begins to change, life for those who are hungry and homeless becomes even more difficult. Please bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the sanctuary entrance. The food we collect will be taken to the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lower Eastside.

Healing Services

We offer brief healing services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. These are powerful times of anointing and prayer. They are held in the sanctuary after the 11 AM service.
