The Metropolitan New York Synod’s World Hunger Committee invites you to attend

Sowing Seeds—Reaping the Harvest—Sharing Our Bread

Sat., Sept. 30, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church

Does it concern you that one in nine people across the globe struggle with hunger when the earth produces more than enough food to more than adequately feed the world’s population?  Does it surprise you that 15% of Americans live in households that do not always know where their next meal will come from?  Do you want to get involved in changing these facts? Do you want to get your congregation involved?  The gathering on Sept. 30 will be an opportunity to earn about the root causes of hunger, hear about the work of ELCA World Hunger, examine resources to involve your congregation in addressing hunger, and share ideas about what congregations in our Synod are doing to fight hunger locally and globally.

  • Iain Chester, ELCA World Hunger Engagement and Education Coordinator, will be our keynote presenter.
  • Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided; sign-in and refreshments will begin at 9:30

If you cannot attend, please pass this invitation on to someone in your congregation who might be interested.

Collecting Food for the Hungry and Homeless

As the weather begins to change, life for those who are hungry and homeless becomes even more difficult. Please bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the sanctuary entrance. The food we collect will be taken to the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lower Eastside.

Healing Services

We offer brief healing services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. These are powerful times of anointing and prayer. They are held in the sanctuary after the 11 AM service.
