One of the opportunities of a companion synod relationship is forming partnerships between congregations in the Metropolitan New York Synod and the congregations in the North Western Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania for the purpose of building up the Body of Christ.

Companion congregations creatively explore our oneness in Christ as we grow in our relationship with one another and share the Gospel. Congregations experience the joy of both giving and receiving. Friendships are formed and opportunities for experiencing another culture are offered.

We at GA have been partnered with the Kayaga Church in Tanzania led by Pastor Jonathan Ntwale. In building relationship with Kayaga, a Companion Relationship Committee will need to be formed. Lay leaders in the congregation will commit to nurturing the relationship. Please contact Deacon Camille Holman if you are interested in participating in this mission.

ELCA Anti-Racism Pledge

As church we are called to confess the sin of racism, condemn the ideology of white supremacy and strive for racial justice and peace. Beyond statements and prayers, we are also called to act and respond to injustices. We invite you to commit to anti-racist actions at ELCA.org/RacialJusticePledge.

Daily Bible Verse

  • Psalm 98

6With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD. 7Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it. 8Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy 9at the presence of the LORD, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.
