Our treasured Minister of Music, Zach Dean, is moving on.  He is relocating this summer to Philadelphia to continue his studies at United Lutheran Seminary to become a pastor.  Zach has served @GA with distinction for three years.  He will be sorely missed!!

We invite you to:

  • “Celebrate Zach” with us on July 15 at 11:00 a.m. for worship(his last @GA).
  • Join us for a festive luncheonfollowing the worship service.
  • Bring a delightful covered dish, salad or dessertto share at the luncheon.
  • Write a letter or noteto include in his “going away basket of memories.”  Please offer words of thankfulness, stories, blessings, jokes, teasing, and/or sweet memories so Zach can know how much he has blessed so many of us!  There will be opportunity during the luncheon to publicly thank Zach.  Come prepared!!  If you cannot attend this celebration, please mail your letter to Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 155 E. 22nd Street, NYC 10010, or send it by email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • A leather-bound hymnal will be circulated over the next couple of weeks so you can pick a few of your favorite hymns and sign your name.So as Zach turns to the hymns to be sung during worship services in the years to come, he will be reminded of the “koinonia” (sacred community) in which he is immersed.  If you cannot be here, let me know which ones are your favorites and we’ll make sure your name(s) are included.

GA will present him with a 12-volume preaching resource called “Feasting on the Word,” as a way to honor his call to proclaim the gospel.  Also… there is rumor of a video that may offer pictures of Zach throughout the years (at his congregation in Bellmore, at Pinecrest, at GA and other unique places).  That ought to be memorable!!!
