What's Happening at GA

Following a resolution approved at the 2018 Synod Assembly, Bishop Egensteiner has invited Dr. Peter Steinke to lead the BridgeBuilder (BB) process in our synod.  The goal is to create and sustain healthier functioning at all levels in the Synod.  Steinke has used the Bridgebuilder (BB) process with nine judicatories and a score of congregations. The process begins with a workshop that will be held on Friday, March 20, from 7:00-9:00 pm, at Advent Lutheran Church, 2504 Broadway, NYC.  The workshops are open to all clergy and laity. Each event is divided into two parts: (1) Dr. Steinke presents “The Synod as an Emotional System” and (2) a feedback session follows focusing on prescriptive ideas and action.

Assembling the information he gathered, Steinke will present an Action Report to the Synod Assembly (May  8,9). Either he will lead a small group exercise thereafter and/or be available for conversation during the Assembly.  An Action Planning Team will be chosen and Steinke will instruct them on how to proceed with the planning. Once they have completed their work, Steinke will return to meet with the Action Planning Team and the Synod Council to finalize a plan of action and a plan for communicating the process.

Collecting Food for the Hungry and Homeless

As the weather begins to change, life for those who are hungry and homeless becomes even more difficult. Please bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the sanctuary entrance. The food we collect will be taken to the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lower Eastside.

Healing Services

We offer brief healing services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. These are powerful times of anointing and prayer. They are held in the sanctuary after the 11 AM service.
