What's Happening at GA

A task force has been formed to help the congregation determine best practices and develop a timeline for re-entering the church building.  They held their first meeting last Sunday and plan to meet weekly to make the necessary preparations.

At the same time we prepare to re-enter the building, we all celebrate the fact that GA never “closed,” that strong twice-weekly worship and weekly study and continual reaching out to check on each other never stopped.  But the pandemic caused us to close our building and now we need to consider all that it will take to re-open it for worship, for Bible study, for all of our building partners, for Open Arms Preschool and other activities.

There are many things to consider and plan for in order to re-open, including reviewing all the guidelines from the CDC, NYS, the ELCA, MNYS, and DOH, to determine what is permissible once the building is open and what will not be allowed.  Of course, the first concern is the safety of our members, especially those over 65 or who have underlying health conditions.  Other concerns include budgeting considerations for PPE, cleaning supplies, and the staff and equipment needed to continue our online worship presence.

Daily Bible Verse

09 July 2020

  • Romans 2:12-16

12All who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in God's sight, but the doers of the law who will be justified.

Collecting Food for the Hungry and Homeless

As the weather begins to change, life for those who are hungry and homeless becomes even more difficult. Please bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the sanctuary entrance. The food we collect will be taken to the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lower Eastside.

Healing Services

We offer brief healing services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. These are powerful times of anointing and prayer. They are held in the sanctuary after the 11 AM service.
