We are invited by Seafarers International House (SIH) to visit adults who have been detained due to immigration documentation issues at the Elizabeth Detention Center.  If you are interested in participating, please contact SIH’s social worker: Makda Kelib, (212) 677-4800 x1207

All participants must bring a government issued photo ID when they come to the detention center. We will meet at SIH (123 E 15th Street, New York, NY 10003). Please arrive no later than 9:00 am. We will gather in the conference room on the mezzanine level and will board our vans outside the agency and leave at 9:15 am to go to the detention center. If you have not attended a visitation to a detention center before, we will hold a training session at SIH on the day of the visitation, at 8:30 am in the mezzanine level conference room.

Collecting Food for the Hungry and Homeless

As the weather begins to change, life for those who are hungry and homeless becomes even more difficult. Please bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the sanctuary entrance. The food we collect will be taken to the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lower Eastside.

Healing Services

We offer brief healing services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. These are powerful times of anointing and prayer. They are held in the sanctuary after the 11 AM service.

Daily Bible Verse

  • Amos 5:18-24

I hate, I despise your festivals, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the offerings of well-being of your fatted animals I will not look upon.
