Welcome to Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church!

Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church is a Christian community dedicated to growing the personal faith of its members, strengthening the support and connection between its members and becoming a religious resource in its urban neighborhood surroundings.  GA thrives through a foundation of service to Christ and a commitment to spiritual development and outreach.

We have been a source of spiritual and community strength in the Gramercy Park area for almost 150 years.  We recently launched Open Arms Preschool - founded on the philosophy that play is a child's vehicle for learning.

We are within walking distance to many of Manhattan's east side neighborhoods including Kips Bay, Peter Cooper Village & Stuyvesant Town, the Lower East Side, and Murray Hill.  We are conveniently located to public transportation.

Please join us - Renewing Faith and Building Community.

Join us for Sunday worship.
All are welcome!

φιλοξενία - philoxenia: “love of strangers” concert held at GA

Philoxenia Live

Posted by Lucas Mietlowski on Tuesday, February 14, 2017

On February 14, 2017, GA held an evening of fun, music, and joy; GA was place to come together to share our concern for immigrants; a time to lift up the work of Seafarers International House and  Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services through song. We "lifted every voice and sang," lifted up our neighbors, near and far.

Collecting Food for the Hungry and Homeless

As the weather begins to change, life for those who are hungry and homeless becomes even more difficult. Please bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the sanctuary entrance. The food we collect will be taken to the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lower Eastside.

Healing Services

We offer brief healing services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. These are powerful times of anointing and prayer. They are held in the sanctuary after the 11 AM service.

Daily Bible Verse

  • Acts 7:33-34

Then the Lord said to him, 'Take off the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.
