Welcome to Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church!

Hybrid Worship at GA,
celebrating Holy Communion!

“The Holy Spirit gathers people around the means of grace – the saving word of God and the sacraments; from the table of communion where Jesus Christ comes with forgiveness, life, and salvation, God sends us to share the good news and to care for those in need.”  (Evangelical Lutheran Worship)

We hope to offer in-person Holy Communion at our church on September 26, in a hybrid worship service.  After that we prayerfully plan to offer weekly hybrid worship with Holy Communion that includes both those who join us via Zoom as well as those who are in-person in our building.  By the grace of God, we believe that such a thing is possible.  More details will soon follow.

This kind of Hybrid Worship is an act of faith that Christ will be with us as we gather to worship as one body in multiple locations.  We believe that we can overcome the limitations imposed by the current pandemic in particular as well as other obstacles that may physically separate us from one another.  We are grateful to have technology that allows people gathered in-person and those present through virtual platforms to worship as one body in Christ.  Please continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us as we embrace the challenges of worship and ministry during this deadly pandemic.

Please virtually join us on Sundays at 11:00 AM EDT (prelude begins at 1055):

About GA...

Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church is a Christian community dedicated to growing the personal faith of its members, strengthening the support and connection between its members and becoming a religious resource in its urban neighborhood surroundings.  GA thrives through a foundation of service to Christ and a commitment to spiritual development and outreach.

We have been a source of spiritual and community strength in the Gramercy Park area for over 150 years.  Our Open Arms Preschool is founded on the philosophy that play is a child's vehicle for learning.

We are within walking distance to many of Manhattan's east side neighborhoods including Kips Bay, Peter Cooper Village & Stuyvesant Town, the Lower East Side, and Murray Hill.  We are conveniently located to public transportation.

Even though GA's is building are open on a limited basis, ministry continues. You can make your offering online. We have multiple ways to give: Vanco, Venmo, Text to Give, and PayPal.

We welcome you to subscribe to "Bread of the Day," a daily email including scripture, song and prayer from GA! We will continue to offer this devotion during the COVID-19 shutdown. Also, please see below for information about resources such as Worship in the Home and Christ in our Home

Daily Bible Verse

  • John 8:21-38

34Jesus answered them, "Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. 35The slave does not have a permanent place in the household; the son has a place there forever. 36So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
